Support - S4 Monitor Drivers

WaterRower S4 monitors are capable of online web racing with software such as NetAthlon and We-Row. To enjoy this feature, you must connect your S4 to a computer with an interface cable. There are two types of interface cables: The newer mini USB to USB cable, which is now included with WaterRower S4 machine purchases (also available in our shop), or the Serial RS-232 cable, which is compatible with the S4 version 1 monitor and can be adapted to USB with a Serial to USB converter.

The driver software below is required for all S4 to PC connections. S4 version 2 monitor driver installation under Windows operating system is now possible via our one-click .exe file (Download file wrs4v2.exe). If a manual installation is required, please review our step-by-step installation guide pdf document for a detailed explanation of the installation process.

If you are having difficulty connecting your s4 monitor to your computer please verify its software version (instructions below) and contact us for assistance.

Checking the firmware version:
Switch on your S4 monitor, press the "advanced" button 9 times and press "OK". Your firmware version is now on the bottom right.

3. Follow the prompts and if needed the instructions outlined in the WaterRower S4 Monitor Installation PDF.

Verify in the Windows Device Manager that the hardware is successfully installed

Opening the Windows Device Manager:
Windows 7 - Start > System & Security > Device Manager (under system heading)
Vista
XP - Click Start > Control Panel > System > Hardware (tab) > Device Manager
Most versions of Windows - Right click My Computer and select 'properties', the 'hardware' tab, then 'device manager'

When you open the device manager, note the port number used by your monitor (under COM & LPT). The device name is "USB Communications Port (COM?)".
You must chose this COM port in We-Row later.
In this example it is COM3. Your settings may differ!
